Resolutions: goals set by human beings at the start of new year- Haley

Well it certainly has been quite a while since I have written something on here, BUT that is just the thing I came to reconcile. Today's topic: resolutions. We all have them. Another year rolls around quicker than the last and suddenly we are all thinking about what we want this year to bring. Maybe it's weight loss, perhaps a new love interest, and maybe just maybe to become a better version of yourself. So as 2018 arrived I thought to myself, what did I want to do this year? What were my goals? So without further ado here is what I've come up with so far:

  • Get a cool job outside of Kentucky. As a soon-to-be graduate (literally how?) I am forced to think about the future. As much as I love Kentucky (not really) I am afraid that this bird must fly away from home to another land that welcomes fashion majors with its arms wide open. Now, am I going to try New York? No. Not until a headhunter for a ridiculously successful retail corporation begs me to move there and offers me mucho dinero. I'm not trying to fake-it-til-I-make-it people.

  • Have a cute apartment. Once I am hired at aforementioned cool job, I must find a place to stay. Now apart from my hatred for the interior design class I took last year and school project in high school, I actually love decorating spaces. Let me tell you I cannot wait to decorate an entire apartment with furniture, coffee table books, and pillows.

  • Get a dog. Now this one is a little far fetched and is most likely the one I for sure will not achieve, because poor. However, I would like to think that by the end of this year I will have a cuddly pup to keep me company, snuggle with, and ward off enemies. Top choices are: a Dalmatian, a Husky, or a Corgi. I mean COME ON!

  • Meet new people. This one I have already accomplished because it's inevitable. With that being said I look forward to meeting even more new people and gaining new friendships.

  • Keep a happy journal. I'm not trying to keep a girly diary (no offense if you do), I just want to be able to have something that at the end of the year I can read and reflect on. Self meditation can be pretty powerful. I also didn't just want to buy a blank notebook because then I would never use it. Instead I opted for the, "52 Lists for Happiness" journal by Moorea Seal (pictured in the collage above). Basically each page contains a prompt for you to list things under such as, "list the things that made you happy as a child". It also contains little paragraphs titled "take action" that essentially gives you a challenge.

  • To read more. Besides required reading for school, I really only read for pleasure twice a year. Once during the Summer, and again during Winter break. It is super easy for me to binge watch 10 episodes of Criminal Minds on Netflix, but when it comes to finding time to read a book I suddenly don't have a minute to spare. This year I want to dive into literature and give my eyes a break from staring at a computer screen. I recently just finished: "Our Chemical Hearts" by Krystal Sutherland.

  • Be more active on my blog. I started this initially so my friends and family could follow my Parisian adventures, however I want this to become something more. I want this to become a platform for sharing and inspiring others.

  • Buy a DSLR camera. These bad boys cost a pretty penny so this will definitely be something I get later in the year. However if I'm truly going to commit to this blogging thing I need something a little more professional than an iPhone camera, especially since I don't have portrait mode.📷

  • Learn how to use a DSLR camera. I would like to re-learn how to use said DSLR camera because I haven't used one since my freshman year photography class.

  • Last but not least: get fit. Pretty self explanatory, but let's just say high school Haley would be pretty disappointed in how much I've let myself go. BUT I am taking a Zumba class this semester so I'm on my way!

So there you have it folks, my magic resolutions. May we all accomplish what we set out to achieve.
